EAGLESON: Peacefully at Exeter Villa, on
Saturday, January 3, 2009, Gertrude Edna (Amy) Eagleson, in her 91st
year after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of
the late Arthur and Louise (Haist) Amy of Crediton. Predeceased by her
husband Lloyd in 1996. Loving and Loved mother of Donna and her husband
Bob Hamather of Hensall and Gary and his wife Marilyn of Chatham. Dear
sister of Marguerite Finkbeiner (Alvin deceased) of Crediton and Dorothy
MacKay (John deceased) of London. Cherished Grandmother (Nan) to Cathy
(Jason) Brown, Wayne (Cindy) Hamather, Tim (Maria) Hamather, Lisa (Dave)
Grant, Andrew (Jody) Eagleson and Sarah (Derek) Ferren. Loving Great
Grandma (Nan) to Terri, Michael, Jessica, Nicole, Katie, Emily, Kyle,
Charlotte, Conor, Jonah and Sawyer. Also survived by one Great-Great
Grandchild (Owen) as well as Sisters-in-Law Aldene Wolfe (Stuart deceased)
of Dashwood, Margaret Eagleson (Gordon deceased) of Southampton, several
nieces, nephews and their families. In recent times, she enjoyed her
many card and shuffleboard games and the numerous friends made in those
activities. Gertrude (Mom), (Nan) will be remembered for her devotion
and kindness to her family and friends and for her care of Lloyd in
his later years. She had a full, rewarding, and much appreciated life.
Her exceptional insight and valued suggestions into the challenges of
life will be dearly missed. Her family was, and will be, her eternal
pride and joy. Gertrude (Mom) (Nan) made the Earth a little better of
a place. Cremation, followed by interment in the Exeter Cemetery. A
time of visitation will be held at T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral
Home in Dashwood on Friday, January 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. A Memorial
Service will be held at the Exeter United Church on Saturday, January
10, 2009 at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in the Church Hall. The Rev.
Paul Ross officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Exeter Villa
or the Exeter United Church would be appreciated by the family.
